The skier's 12 Commandments
Respect for othersEvery skier has to behave in a way that he does not put others at risk or cause damage. Be aware of your speed and behaviour.
Beware of your speed and behaviourEvery skier has to tune his speed and behaviour to his own skills and the general weather conditions.
Route choiceThe skier who is still on the mountain, due to their dominant position, can choose their route and therefore have to make sure they avoid collisions with skiers further down the slope.
OvertakingOvertaking is allowed everywhere on the slope, and left or right. However, the overtaking person has to keep a distance from the other skier, which does not prevent the other skier from continuing on the course they are skiing on.
Crossing and CuttingThe skier who gets onto a slope or crosses a training area has to make sure he looks up and down the slope and crosses without danger to himself and to others. The same behaviour is required after every break.
BreakThe skier should not stop on the slope and especially not at gateways or in areas with bad visibility. If a skier falls, he has to make sure he clears the slope as soon as possible.
AscentThe skier who ascends the slope has to remain at the slope's edge: do not walk up a slope in cases of bad visibility. The same behaviour is expected of a skier who descends the slope walking.
Respect SignsAll skiers have to adhere to the signs on the slopes.
In case of an accidentIn the case of an accident everybody is obliged to assist.
IdentificationIf you are involved in an accident or if you are the witness of such, you have to give your personal details.
Minimum space for overtaking from the slope edgeA good norm is not to curve at the slope edges, but to leave enough space to be overtaken by others.
TracesBe aware of the routes of skiers with regard to the type of ski used, snowboard, telemark, carving fun.
